Children's Day is a special occasion when we celebrate small, but not just that. Yes it is true that we always find a way to let them spend a very nice day and even spoil them, also looking for ways to raise awareness of their rights so that their safety is guaranteed.
The idea to celebrate the "Day of the Child" emerged more than 40 years ago, on November 20, 1959, when the UN General Assembly held a meeting in which it decided to reaffirm the rights of children worldwide.
Since then and although the global celebration is on 20 November, each country has chosen a special day to celebrate and organize activities in order to help develop the welfare of small around the globe.
In Ecuador we celebrate on June 1.
In Bolivia, for example the child's day is April 12.

In Peru the third Sunday in August.
In Brazil on October 12.
Colombia on April 3.
Paraguayans celebrate it on May 31.
Children's Day in Uruguay is on 9 August.
For Venezuela the 3rd. Sunday of June.
On 20 November 1989 the United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, first Universal Law that establishes the rights of children around the globe.
The Convention on the Rights of the Child is binding on all states and governments of the world and therefore the laws of each country must adapt or adjust to what rules the convention.
Ecuador was the first country in Latin America and the third country in the world to have ratified the convention,
- Children are free people, who have rights
- Girls and boys may require the authorities to implement and enforce their rights.
- The children are persons subject of law and rights that remain.
Since then every year they make great celebrations both at home and in various public and private institutions.
